The biggest items in this release include operating system (OS) and database engine support. The wide range includes MariaDB Server 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11 LTS, plus we are also excited to announce that you can now deploy a Percona XtraDB Cluster (PXC) 8.0 cluster entirely via Galera Manager, via AWS, DigitalOcean or on servers you provide yourself!
So now the support matrix for operating systems are:
And the matrix for database engines are:
Deprecated does not mean removed, it just means that it is likely to be removed in a future release. The reason we deprecate engines and operating systems is for the sole reason that they are not necessarily supported upstream any longer, but may still have customers and users who utilise it. More importantly, the next releases should also start supporting upgrades which could be quite significant.
One change that is important is that we have an agent installed on all managed nodes now, called gma. It runs to detect connectivity, but in future releases it will be run to execute commands in an unattended fashion, which we believe will be more reliable than the current SSH method, when the connection breaks. You can find this in /usr/local/bin/gma.
From a usability standpoint, it is nice to see a few improvements, with a nice new Properties tab, and when you install it, a much nicer look at logs.
A personal favourite is that the SSH client now does not launch a new window, but is within the same browser window as a popup.
A few notes from the internal changelog that is published in the application (and also on the Galera Manager Changelog):
